John Wenman & Sons - Koi Pond Specialists
Shaun and John Wenman have been building Koi Ponds for about 14 years for themselves, family and friends. Their knowledge about Koi and their environment grew which then lead to other people asking Shaun and John to build ponds for them. So four years ago Shaun and John were persuaded to include Koi pond building to their building company.
Shaun had his own pond featured in the KOI Carp Magazine in 2003.
The smallest pond built by the company is 3000 gallons and the largest 70000 gallons. With new houses having smaller gardens the most popular size is 6000 gallons. Not all builders can build Koi ponds, although a bold statement it’s true. Although many competent builders can build a pond they often have no concept of the Koi’s needs and it is this marriage between the ability to construct a pond and the love of true hobbyists, which make Shaun and John specialist pond builders.
Many clients have a design in mind for the pond but often do not consider what is best for the Koi. Sometimes husband and wife have different visions for their pond. John and Shaun will help the clients design a pond, which meets the needs of both parties but they will never compromise on the well being of the fish.
Some Clients need a total look, which includes planting, tea houses, waterfalls lights and pergodas. Others require only the pond and filtration system and prefer to do the landscaping themselves. Some are not sure whether they should heat their pond. This can be a difficult decision for people to make but by speaking to Shaun or John the right option for you will be forthcoming.

When it comes to filtration Shaun and John recommend the Aquadyne - a bead filter. Cleaning these filters is only a ten minute task and can be carried out without any mess.
John Wenman & Sons can offer a full design service or work from plans or from sketches supplied by the client. If you need to change the filtration system for your existing pond we can do this as well. As time passes and the stocking levels of your pond increase your old Filtration system may struggle but a new filter larger in capacity can often be retrofitted.
